In this workshop, we would like to have a small discussion around practical and wide-ranging issues on organizing large scale in-company pipelines for film making in the long and medium terms. see the additional information.
Please note that this workshop is co-organized with Studio Seminar for Practices.
Introduction to Derbies, a production pipeline platform as a practical model used for theoretical discussions in KSS. In this talk, our fundamental concept, algorithms and some use-cases of Derbies will be given especially with some possible further research directions.
I shall discuss the usage and importance of the data referencing and instancing that are necessary on a production pipeline, from the perspective of production workflow.
Focusing on character animation, I shall discuss rigging, which is an essential component of animation production. I'll explain the process from constructing the rig through creating controllers for animators, with examples of usage, etc.
In several stages including rendering, fluid simulation, rigging and so on, referencing and instancing can be considered as one of essential frameworks both in the practical and theoretical aspects. We focus on their importance in the respective aspects, and give the introduction for further discussion following the talk.
The workshop topics include, but are not limited to:
To make the discussion valuable for the attendees from the academic and practical points of view, we'd like to expect the attendees basically being:
