KSS Projects for Communication

Modeling for CG based on Discrete Integrable Systems

This project had a workshop at IMI with many film-making companies and achieved a very expansive discussion. This means that the project has moved into the next progressive stage hence we made a decision to finalize the project as a project of KSS Projects for Communication, as of June 2016. Please contact the corresponding moderator, Kosaku Nagasaka if you have a question on the project.

"Modeling for CG based on Discrete Integrable Systems" is one of the projects of "KSS Projects for Communication", which is started since 2016.

Purpose and Contents

The purpose of this project is to develop modelling technique for computer graphics based on discrete integrable systems. The theory of discrete integrable systems provides skeletons of dynamics of geometric objects such as discrete curves and discrete surfaces through discrete differential geometry, which yield a simple but stable and flexible framework of modelling for computer graphics. Fleshed out with various mathematical and physical techniques, such skeleton models are expected to be simple, fast and realistic CG models.
